Annual General Meeting – Wed October 10

Dear Capitol Hill Residents and CHCA Members,

The Capitol Hill Community Association’s Annual General Meeting is coming up on Wednesday, October 10. Our mission is to connect and engage residents through programs and services, fostering a sense of belonging. We also have the responsibility to care for and plan for the use of our Community Centre, and Capitol Hill Park. The association serves as a conduit to City Hall and other agencies as the voice for our residents, and we need to know what Capitol Hill residents are thinking!

Over the past year, the association has engaged on all of the below topics. If you care about how any of these issues are handled, you should attend the AGM and consider further involvement with the association:

  • Enhancements to the Community Centre including new flooring in the Lounge, replacement of coolers and refrigerator with energy efficient appliances, and expansion to the Community Gardens.
  • Community Events like the Pumpkin Carving Party, Holiday Party, Snowman making competition, Easter Egg Hunt, Mom’s Night Out, Community Cleanup, Neighbourday Party & Business Fair, Stand up Comedy Night, and Monthly Community Pub nights.
  • Programming such as Child Safe courses and Native Bee workshop
  • Developments, densification, and zoning in the community
If you have questions about any of the above topics, please get in contact with the Board. All of our contact info is located at the bottom of the newsletter.

Capitol Hill has a great record of being a progressive and safe neighbourhood to live and develop friendships. Our demographics are diverse, and the AGM is where you can make connections, share ideas, learn more about the association, and get involved.

We are looking to grow the Board to be able to increase our ability to broaden the reach of the programs, events, and services offered to the community, as well as to include different perspectives as we move forward in planning for the future of the Community Association. If you would like to join a group of enthusiastic neighbours to create a vibrant Community Association, ensure that you’re membership is up to date so that you may join the board at the AGM. You can also browse the descriptions of the Board Positions to see where your skills would fit.

Lastly, we would all love to meet you and to build new friendships here in Capitol Hill.
