How can you make a difference in the community?
The Capitol Hill Community Association is a volunteer organization that aims to serve the recreational, educational, and social needs of the residents of the community.

Below are just a few ways you can chip in to make Capitol Hill awesome. If you would like to start your own initiative or organize an event, email caphillmembership@gmail.com.

Flower Planters Caretaker

We are looking for someone to water daily and caretake the flower planters at the community center between June – September. The flower planters require daily watering. If you like to garden or are interested in helping, please contact caphillrents@gmail.com

CHCA Membership Drive

Capitol Hill Community Association Membership drive will be June 1 – 15th, 2018. Inspire your neighbours to become Capitol Hill Community members through door-to-door conversations in your corner of the community.

Volunteers in groups of 3-4 pick one of six routes, go knocking on doors, and share the benefits of being a community member! Volunteers will receive information on group meet up location, conversation suggestions, and membership registration forms. No age restrictions to participate, but at least one volunteer in each group must be over 18.

Volunteer orientation is Wednesday, May 30th in the Capitol Hill Community Center Lounge from 6-7pm (Free Pizza + drinks).

Neighbour Day Party

Neighbour Day is taking place Saturday, June 16, 2018. The Capitol Hill Community Association is organizing the community event which will celebrate our vibrant and diverse community. Neighbour Day is an opportunity to get together with your neighbours and celebrate our strong community spirit. Community BBQ & Neighbour Awards Presentation

The Capitol Hill Community Association relies on its volunteers for fundraising, organizing clubs, planning social events, and improving our neighborhood streets. The Community BBQ is a recognition event to appreciate individuals for their hard-work, dedication and generosity of time and energy.

The Community BBQ will be on Saturday, September 21, 2018 between 5-8pm and is open to anyone who has participated as a volunteer in 2017/2018 year.

Community Cleanup & Recycling Event

In late September, the community association hosts a recycling event for community households to clean out their garages and homes of unwanted items. It is a great time to declutter and easily recycle at this event. Volunteers are required to man the various recycling stations,  control traffic, and clean litter from the grounds. Volunteers will be provided with all necessary equipment.

Communication and Newsletter Committee 

We are looking for citizen journalists or writers to contribute articles and/or to share ideas for the Capitol Hill e-newsletter. Deadlines are fluid and topics can be endless. Share your passion with the readership be it gardening, ideas on how to build community, cycling in the city, etc.
